About The Book

I thought I’d travel the world to understand it better. What I found were stories that led me home to myself. This body of work was made in 2025, during a period of travel shaped as much by listening as by looking. Moving through cities, coastlines, and desert landscapes, I encountered people who welcomed me into their lives not because I arrived with certainty, but because I arrived open.

In those encounters, I began to recognise familiar rhythms. Of Lagos. Of childhood. Of home. These photographs hold moments of connection, stillness, and recognition, shaped by light, memory, and the quiet exchanges that happen between strangers.

People of Morocco is not only about place; it is about how a place can shift something within you without announcement, and how fragments of yourself can surface in landscapes that do not belong to you.

Proceeds from this first edition will support the placement of copies in public and academic libraries, and help fund future chapters of People of Morocco as the project expands beyond its original scope.

Walking through Marrakech felt like walking through parts of Lagos I carry in my bones. These aren’t just photographs of Morocco — they’re Morocco as I saw it, shaped by memory, place, and the echo of where I’m from.
