A documentary photo essay
The work was photographed in a small village in the heart of Wales during the days leading up to Liam’s wedding. Although I was not the primary photographer, I was drawn to documenting the quieter moments around Liam and his family as they prepared for the day.
The essay focuses on moments that unfold away from the ceremony itself, as a man prepares for a transition that is both personal and public. From reviewing speeches to the small decisions that mark the final hours before the ceremony, the atmosphere moved between nervous anticipation and quiet camaraderie.
By shifting attention away from the spectacle of the wedding day, the work documents moments that usually pass unseen. Focusing on the groom rather than the ceremony, the essay records a threshold moment, capturing the subtle emotional shift of a man stepping into a new role.
